A Night filled with Funk,Art, and Dance!
SATURDAY February 21st 2004,7pm

This will be a Night filled with Funk,Art, and Dance! 3 Artist will be showing their paintings while one of the hottest funk bands in the city rocks the house with some very special guest vocal appearences! @ The Baggot Inn' 82 West 3rd St. New York N.Y. ----------- EKB was founded in 2001 by keyboard player, award-winning songwriter, and producer Eytan Koch. Long in search of the perfect bandmates for EKB's unique sound, Koch found the first permanant member in sizzling guitarist Anton "Dex" Alexeev, who adds a rock edge to Eytan's smooth jazz/funk compositions. Next came super saxman Alesh Benkovic (who also plays flute, piano, and who knows how many other insturments). Background vocalist and harmony specialist Megan Yaner came next, and Megan coordinates all the background harmonies, in addition to boasting a seriously soulful voice. Then came smoky vocalist Alisa Michaels. Alisa's spectacular voice and her ability to relate to the audience and deliver a red-hot performance make her the perfect singer for Koch's compositions. The newest members of the band include funky rhythm-master Travis Davis on drums, and the incredible Wayne Lyles on bass. This hot, funky, and soulful group, joined occasionally by various other background singers, horn players, guest lead vocalists, and percussionists, constitutes the unique funky/jazzy/rocky sound that EKB has become known for over the last few years. And look for them to be releasing their first album in 2004. ------Feat."KATE SHINDLE" Kate recently finished shooting on Paramount/Dreamworks' remake of "The Stepford Wives," due out June 11th. She has starred on Broadway as Sally Bowles in Cabaret, a role she also played on the national tour, and as Lucy in Jekyll and Hyde. He began attending the prestigious School for Creative and Performing Arts in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio at ten. He got his start in music by singing in commercials and professional theatrical productions. At ten he was a featured soloist on the recording "Young at Heart" with the Cincinnati POPS and toured the country for a year at the age of 13 with the musical OLIVER! Adam began to study classical voice at ten as well as various styles of dance and theatre. At sixteen he moved to the Grand Cayman Islands with his mother. Without the creative outlet of his performing arts school environment Adam found himself searching for a way to express his creativity. Pulling from his influences of hip hop, R&B, jazz, and reggae he began to develop his original sound. He began to write his own songs and first performed one of his originals at 17. Adam decided to move back to Cincinnati to graduate from his performing arts highschool. After graduation he decided to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA with a focus in performance, music production, and songwriting. This is where he developed his first band A.K.A. which has since become The Elegant Children. He began to perform around Boston and soon gained recognition in the Boston music scene. While in Boston he had the opportunity to record and perform with many different bands singing lead and backgrounds vocals. After graduating from college he decided to move to New York City to pursue performing as a full time career. He has toured with Grammy nominated vocalist Patti Austin and the Queen of Underground hip hop, Medusa. He has also performed with legendary singer/songwriter Brenda Russell, pianist Greg Phillinganes, and jazz great Diane Reeves.
